Janelle

Host

Meet Janelle!

What is the best part about being a trivia host?
Interacting with the players and making them laugh.

What is the best piece of hosting advice you have ever received?
Ashleigh: “Don’t drink too much wine while you’re hosting. It makes grading answers way harder.” No truer advice!

What is a skill, hobby, or passion you have outside of hosting?
What’s the saying… Jack of all trades, master of none. That’s me! Coaching basketball, chicken mom, plumber, mechanic, carpenter… if it looks fun and hands-on, sign me up. I recently tanned a cowhide… because who doesn’t want to lay down on that?!

What is your go-to coffee order, drink order, or favorite snack?
My go-to coffee order is a decaf iced latte with coffee milk, two brown sugars, two caramel, one liquid cane sugar, and less ice, with a salty peanut Barebell. Breakfast of champions!

What is a book, podcast, TV show, or movie you are always recommending to people?
The Shawshank Redemption, hands down my all-time favorite movie. All you need is a small rock hammer.

If your life was a movie, what genre would it be, and who would play you?
Definitely not a rom-com, but an action comedy. And I would be Betty White.

What is one business buzzword or phrase you absolutely cannot stand?
“Drink the Kool-Aid.” I feel like nowadays, way too many people are going to have diabetes from drinking it.

What was your very first job?
I worked as a cashier at the campground we stayed at when I was 14. Best summer job ever, as I used my first paycheck to buy a new pair of rollerblades.

What was your favorite childhood cartoon?
Oblina from Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, primarily because she looked like the letter J.

If you had a time machine that only worked once, would you visit the past or the future?
Definitely the past. I’d go back so I could see my dad.

If you had to choose an animal sidekick that speaks fluent English, what animal would you choose?
A red panda, hands down. Stop what you’re doing and just Google them. Absolutely adorable!!!

What theme trivia would you absolutely come in last place at?
Friends or Grey’s Anatomy. I haven’t drunk the Kool-Aid on those.

If our trivia company was stranded on a deserted island, which host do you think would survive the longest?
Vern, as he would annoy everyone and they would just leave the island.
