Meet Cris!
What is the best part about being a trivia host?
The best part about being a trivia host is meeting so many amazing people! I love seeing everyone having a good time with friends and family and being able to be a part of that. Of course, I also enjoy the “Oh, man. I knew that!” moments when people finally hear the answer they “knew” but couldn’t think of. I must also admit that I love Music Bingo “karaoke” and watching people sing to figure out what song they just heard a whole 7 seconds of. I think I just like everything!
What is the best piece of hosting advice you have ever received?
“What was I thinking? I don’t do crowds. I don’t do microphones. I don’t talk to people.”
“Mom, stop. Breathe. Just relax. You’re gonna do great!”
(I may possibly have had a bit of anxiety and some panic attacks when I first started… beginning immediately after my interview.)
What is a skill, hobby, or passion you have outside of hosting?
I enjoy baking, and my daughter believes I am the world’s best baker. I don’t know about that, but most people like everything I make. I also love the water – pools, oceans, lakes, boats…
What is a book, podcast, TV show, or movie you are always recommending to people?
I used to recommend the Harry Potter series (books before movies), but then I hosted Harry Potter-themed trivia and realized I must have read the knockoff version. (For anyone who doesn’t know, themed trivia can be a tiny bit difficult.)
If you were a professional wrestler, what would your character name be and what would your entrance theme song be?
According to my daughter (and I’m questioning what she really thinks of me): CLow White, with “F*@# You” by CeeLo Green as my entrance theme.
If your life was a movie, what genre would it be, and who would play you?
Let’s say it would be a comedy-drama. Throw in some 7th graders, some trivia, Music Bingo, and a little home life with three dogs, a cat, two birds, and a few people. I’m not so sure anyone would want to watch, so let me know which actress would be the best pick to get some interest. ChatGPT says the top picks to play me are Linda Cardellini – “warm, grounded, intelligent, kind, and naturally funny” – or Judy Greer – “smart, funny, and kind with a very natural comedic mom energy.” But sometimes people say they get “Spicy Cris,” so maybe ChatGPT’s suggestion of Lauren Graham – “witty, talkative, nurturing, and emotionally sharp” – would work.
What was your very first job?
My first job was as a “coat check attendant” when I was about 13, I think. I also made garlic bread and eventually made salads and gourmet pizzas at the same restaurant.
What was your favorite childhood cartoon?
I probably have a lot of them, but when I was really young, Mighty Mouse was one of my very favorites. I also liked Scooby-Doo because who doesn’t love a good mystery?
If you could only eat one specific meal from the CNP cafeteria for the rest of your life, what would you be eating?
We have a cafeteria? Is it free for employees?
What theme trivia would you absolutely come in last place at?
Pokemon or anything anime. I’d know absolutely nothing.
If our trivia company was stranded on a deserted island, which host do you think would survive the longest?
Vern. I think he would just knock off anyone who annoyed him, which would probably be everyone. Oooh! Unless Ashleigh is there. She might take Vern out.
