John #2
Host

Meet John #2!
What is the best part about being a trivia host?
I just like trivia. I know what it’s like to like trivia, so it’s cool to help other people who like trivia have an outlet to practice liking trivia. Community? Is that the right answer?
What is the best piece of hosting advice you have ever received?
Just be yourself. The best characters you can play are those that are you with the volume turned up.
What is a skill, hobby, or passion you have outside of hosting?
Besides also playing trivia, I like horror movies… like, a lot. I don’t even have a favorite type: good, bad, mediocre, old, new, popular, unknown… all of it. I want to see it.
What is your go-to coffee order, drink order, or favorite snack?
I like places where I can just get coffee and then do whatever I want to it, add-ins-wise. Give me black coffee and a bar with hundreds of options to create something I’ll never remember how to make again.
What is a book, podcast, TV show, or movie you are always recommending to people?
If you’re not watching Widow’s Bay on Apple TV right now, you are missing out. Also, Why We Love Horror (wwlhorror) on YouTube is pretty cool. The host is a cool guy.
If you were a professional wrestler, what would your character name be and what would your entrance theme song be?
I was a professional wrestler. Ha. Thought you had me there, I bet. Look me up on YouTube: “Showtime” Shawn Sheridan. My entrance theme was “Take on Me” by a-ha, by the way.
If your life was a movie, what genre would it be, and who would play you?
As a horror guy, I feel like it has to be horror… but a horror comedy. An existential horror comedy. Michael Shannon has to play me. No substitutes.
What is one business buzzword or phrase you absolutely cannot stand?
“Let’s put a pin in this,” “Let’s table this,” or “We’ll circle back to this.” Nah. Let’s finish the discussion now.
What was your very first job?
I was a busboy at the Wagon Wheel restaurant in Bergenfield, NJ. As a result of my leaving the job in 1995 to work at the movie theater, it sadly had to close its doors in 2023.
What was your favorite childhood cartoon?
It was probably generic stuff like ThunderCats, Masters of the Universe, and G.I. Joe until they put The Ren & Stimpy Show on the air. I still don’t understand how that was marketed to children, but here we are.
If you had a time machine that only worked once, would you visit the past or the future?
The future. Fingers crossed everything is still there.
If you taught a 45-minute class at CNP University, what would you be the professor of?
New French Extremity Horror Movies of the 2000s: Why You Are Missing Out by Not Traumatizing Yourself Fully.
If you had to choose an animal sidekick that speaks fluent English, what animal would you choose?
As long as it doesn’t attack me, a tiger would be pretty cool to have around.
If you could only eat one specific meal from the CNP cafeteria for the rest of your life, what would you be eating?
Do we have a sushi chef in there? Whatever specific thing they want to serve me is fine.
What theme trivia would you absolutely come in last place at?
I’m pretty good at most things, but something like high fine arts… like ballet… I’d be pretty bad at that.
If our trivia company was stranded on a deserted island, which host do you think would survive the longest?
I hope I would. I’ve seen enough movies where that happens, so I have a rough idea of what to do. I watch Survivor. But if not me… uh… let one of the owners survive so the company can continue in memory of those of us who perished on that island.
